The research house "B10" in Stuttgart produces twice as much energy as it needs thanks to sustainability in construction, zero waste and maximum efficiency when heating and cooling.
The building is heated with a water-water-heat pump. The first and most important heat source is an ice storage tank that is situated next to the building in the ground. The photovoltaic modules with integrated solar thermal energy mounted on the roof serve as the second heat source. This has proven to be highly efficient in combination with the selected wall and ceiling heating/cooling system from Variotherm.
The "B10" represents the future of sustainable construction. For the selection of Variotherm, it was among others things decisive that the system can be completely recycled after the end of its service life. In complete harmony with the zero waste aspect, the building will be completely dismantled after the conclusion of the research project and will be rebuilt elsewhere or 100% recycled. The site will be returned to the city of Stuttgart in its original condition.
